Notes
It has departed from an audio format considered “less sophisticated” – the general midi – with the goal of creating several variables to give it a more personal and characteristic sonority. The title comes from the subtleties and variations that exist within a black and white tool.

Biography
Maria de Fátima Fonte Ferreira (1983) was born at S. Pedro de Rates, Póvoa de Varzim (Portugal).
After completing the National Conservatory of Lisbon piano course, she graduated in the subject of Composition at Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo do Porto (ESMAE) in 2008, where she had lessons with, among other teachers, Dimitris Andrikopoulos, Fernando Lapa, Eugénio Amorim and Marina Pikoul, and seminars with Magnus Lindberg.
In July 2007, she won the Póvoa de Varzim International Composition Competition first prize on chamber music category with the piece “Civilização”. In 2008, Orquestra do Algarve played her piece “Verão”, and had a commission from the young talents prize (Prémio Jovens Músicos 2008), where “Arabesco” for solo bassoon was played.
Between October 2009 and April 2010 she learnt North Indian Classical Music in Pune, India, with a scholarship from the portuguese foundation “Fundação Oriente”, having lessons with the singer Aparna Gurav, and participating in workshops with Veena Saharasbuddhe.
She is currently studying for an MA in Composition at the Conservatory of Music of Amsterdam.
